Artist Spotlight- Witty: DJ/Producer.

I moved to LA in 2003. There my eyes were opened obviously to many things; one being the electronic music culture. Through Music/Dance/Art, and the amazing community, I was blown away by the positivity, unity, and love that was shared with so many people. I knew right away this was for me. It was dance that captivated me initially. Influenced by break dancing, Pop ’n’ Lock, and all forms of musical expression, I decided I wanted to dj/produce electronic music to share what had moved my life so profoundly. My interests include all genres of House, Breaks, Glitch, Electro, Minimal, Drum & Bass, and Psy-Trance, but appreciate all forms. I started on vinyl and learned the basics of beat matching by ear. From there I picked up my first analog drum machine/synth/samplers. Infatuated with musical structure, synth frequencies and parameters, my quest into musical production began. My vinyl days were short lived as the digital dj age was dawning and I realized my limitations. From there I worked my ass off to obtain a pair of used CDJ 800 mk2's (stoked), and on to my first Macbook and Tractor Pro. I've recently progressed to working with Ableton Live and am excited for the transition from hobbyist to performer. My goal is to produce my own tracks and use my love for the art of djing and mixing to create a different, unique, intuitive live experience every time, and to send a positive message to dance floors. The scene has definitely changed over the years, but I hope to convey the essence of what I found to be so positive within this culture. .
